robots (2005)

rodney copperbottom is a small and ingenious city robot who invents devices and hopes to overcome the confines of his little world. rodney works in a restaurant next to his father, who is a real dishwasher with the door open to load dirty dishes. but rodney aims for something more. armed with his special inventive talent, he decides to leave for robot city, where he hopes to meet his idol, the authoritative inventor bigweld. bigweld, who is an idol in all of robot city, spent his whole life creating devices to improve the life of robots. arriving at robot city, rodney discovers that reality is not quite as he had imagined and the search for bigweld could be much more difficult than he had thought. during her city patrols, rodney knows the rusties, a group of astute street robots who know a lot about it. one of them, fender, immediately becomes rodney's friend and, indeed, allows the brave little sister piper to accompany them. rodney joins the group and, at least for the time being, has an assured arrangement with robot city. rodney also meets cappy, a manager at bigweld industries, who immediately takes a liking to rodney, seeing many things about him. after various adventures, rodney and his new friends meet some shady characters who try to divert rodney from bigweld's search and from the rescue of robot city.
