Earthbound (1974)

a kaldorian spaceship lands on the moon: inside there are six very high aliens, one of whom dies accidentally. their commander, zantor, reveals that their destination is the earth and, now that a place is available, offers one of the inhabitants of alpha the opportunity to return home. simmonds, who had accepted his status as a stellar shipwrecked less than the others, uses blackmail to be chosen.
