hide and seek (2005)

for young emily callaway, her hide-and-seek games with an imaginary friend named charlie, become anything but simple and innocent. on the contrary, he finds himself in the middle of a series of regrettable and frightening events that not even his father david manages to stop. who, or what is charlie? david asks. how does an imaginary entity have this hold on you? could charlie not be completely imaginary, but instead, an evil presence in the flesh? emily is hiding a terrible secret. when the story begins, charlie's wife, alison died suddenly, traumatizing the child. father and daughter moved north to new york state to ward off emily from memories of life in manhattan with her mother. soon after that, her friendship with charlie was born, which david initially saw as a positive system for emily to express herself. but a series of terrifying events led him to imagine the unimaginable: charlie could be real, and if so, he must be stopped.
