The Insider (1999)

jeffrey wigand, former executive of the brown and thompson tobacco industry, decides to disclose the secrets he knows about the presence in cigarettes of a substance that can increase the smoker's nicotine dependence. cbs reporter lowell bergman records the interview, but fails to broadcast it due to political and economic pressures. while bergman, abandoned by his wife and targeted by a bitter smear campaign, risks being arrested, lowell is fighting to air, in full, the hottest service of recent years.
