senza freni (2003)

alessandro is eight years old. he lost his father when he was very young and lives with his mother giulia, a swimming teacher, in a small villa in the green outskirts of the city. it is a bright morning. the noises of a car wake him up, but there is something wrong: he sees his mother leaving with his uncle claudio and immediately he launches himself in pursuit terrified, shouting at breakneck speed. he can't stop it. the car has a terrible head-on collision, alessandro arrives just in time to see the ambulance leaving with sirens deployed. they take him to a big police station, he is upset. a commissioner takes care of him. the child confesses to him crying that he himself has tampered with the car's brakes and caused the accident. the commissioner is a special person. he manages to calm him down and make him talk. everything was quiet until a few months ago. then his uncle claudio returned, his father's brother, whom alessandro had not seen since he was two years old. and since then his life has begun to be populated by 'visions' from which the child is very worried. the arrival of claudio has changed many things: the man courts giulia, who after losing her husband has never remarried, and the old house, to which alessandro is very fond, was put up for sale. the child's discomfort grows, leads him like a little detective to dig deep into his memory, until he can understand the real tragic reason for his dislike of his uncle.
