the young takahashi divides the room with four students, but he spends his days together with four other wanderers. the exams are close and since there is no more time to study, the only possibility is to look for a stratagem to be able to copy. takahashi transcribes precious notes on his shirt, but on the morning of the exam the landlady thinks well of washing the shirts of the young tenants. it is the defeat: takahashi and his friends are rejected, while the roommates are all promoted. but the joy of the latter is ephemeral because failing to find work they will only regret the times of the university.
