vincenzo has left his home in procida for three years and left for new york in search of fame, fortune and success as a sculptor. and even if he comes back only once a year, he has always remained in constant contact with his beloved wife maria and their two children. and yet, after his last christmas visit, vincenzo disappeared, leaving the family alone and penniless. maria, who makes handcrafted sandals, is tired of her country's poverty and limitations. he decides to pack up and take his children across the atlantic to find vincenzo and reunify his family. but when she arrives in new york, maria realizes that for years vincenzo has told her a lot of lies. when she and the children manage to find him, vincenzo is delighted to see his children and his great love, but not only does he not have any money, he is also regularly married to a nutella-dependent american woman, charlene, who has a baby girl and is of new unequivocally pregnant. vincenzo swears to love maria but not even the uncontainable attraction between the two can change things. mary's indignation is matched only by charlene's fury. and yet, among the dramatic and exhilarating events of those days, the two women will be able to do nothing but become attached to each other despite maternity, the husband in common and the desire for revenge.
