le avventure di mandrin (1952)

savoy, eighteenth century. the son of a smuggler, mandrin follows in his father's footsteps by organizing a fierce gang that ends up putting the duty agents in difficulty. the favorite of king louis xv, the famous pompadour, decides to meet the marauder, but he, pretending to be someone else, makes fun of her and seduces her. sentenced to death, mandrin saves his own skin through the intercession of the pompadour, moved by the efforts and generosity of a girl who goes out of her way to save him.
