la boheme (1943)

the musician schaunard, the philosopher colline, the painter marcel and the poet rodolfo form a cheerful brigade with their girlfriends, they revel together, have fun even if poor in means. the girl loved by rodolfo, the flower girl mimì, soon shows signs of illness and the young man, not having the economic possibilities, cannot make her properly treated. so mimì, in order not to be a burden to him, leaves him and is reduced to being a prostitute. the evil has reason for her, however, and shortly thereafter dies of consumption, assisted however by the beloved man and his true friends.
