la gondola delle chimere (1936)

an english noblewoman falls in love with a venetian count without knowing that she is a spy against turkey. when man is captured by a ruthless turkish general, the woman is ready to sacrifice her honor by giving herself to the enemy in order to save her beloved. but the turk is bitten by a snake and dies, the count is shot without the woman having been able to do anything to save him and then, in desperation, the beautiful lady enters a convent.
