la figlia del capitano (1947)

two young officers, shvabrin and piotr, are in love with the same woman, mascia, the daughter of captain mironov. attacked by pugachev, a rebel who fought the tsar and to whom piotr once saved his life, the garrison is destroyed. only the two young men are saved: shvabrin betrays and piotr is left free for a debt of gratitude. the latter saves mascia and kills his rival in a duel but, at the end of his life, accuses him of being a spy. recognized as innocent, the officer can finally marry the woman he loves.
