la fanciulla dell'altro mondo (1934)

a saxophonist and a pianist, both penniless, meet on a steamer en route to genoa, and both he and her believe they are wealthy people. the man, who besides is clandestine, falls in love with the girl, but the subterfuges created by the two generate confusion and misunderstanding; among other things, as soon as she landed, the girl finds her former lover who asks her to marry after learning that she is pregnant. the two return together and the poor saxophonist, disappointed, devotes himself to his profession which seems to open a bright career for him.
