la fanciulla dell'altra riva (1942)

a girl in poor health knows a fascinating businessman, who is actually a criminal, already sentenced to death but then escaped. the attraction between the two is strong, but the former lover of the man who would like to resume the relationship with him, who instead refuses taken from the passion and from the clean feelings towards the girl becomes alive. the woman reveals the true identity of the man to the girl who does not stand up to emotion and dies. the criminal, now on the way to redemption, sets himself up as a police officer.
