in a provincial town a blatant misunderstanding arises between a duke just returned from america where he regained his ancestral heritage and where he married and a young doctor afflicted by a jealous wife. for a series of misunderstandings and strange circumstances, the young doctor is wrongly suspected of being the lover of the duchess, but finally the truth will come to the surface.
