the famous british theater actor edmund kean (1787-1833) becomes a rival in love with the prince of wales, once his friend and patron. this rivalry soon turned into enmity and the actor, in a moment of mad jealousy, went so far as to insult the prince publicly, during a play. the woman to whom the two aim, however, is married and her husband understands what is happening and asks kean for reason. the intervention of the prince manages to stifle the scandal by exiling the actor who will leave in the company of a young actress in love with him.
