howard brackett is a professor of drama at greenleaf's college in indiana. passionate about poetry and fan of barbra streisand, howard has rather affected ways but no one, not even him, suspects of his homosexuality. until the day when a former student, cameron drake, awarded the oscar for best actor, declares worldwide that professor brackettt is gay. howard's quiet life gets so upset: besieged by journalists, questioned by students, pressed by his girlfriend and parents, poor howard tries to understand something himself. but it will be only peter, a homosexual journalist, who lets howard admit his real nature and give him the courage to declare it to everyone.
