imputato, alzatevi ! (1939)

a nurse from a pediatric clinic, to arouse interest in a colleague with whom she is in love, pretends to be a conqueror of women, tormented by their letters. a bad day, however, is caught at the body of a murdered woman and, for a series of unfavorable indications, is accused of murder. the trial that follows, thanks to his histrionic defense lawyer, gets absolution and from this follows an immense popularity. he is then hired to organize a magazine that reconstructs his drama choreographically. this triggers the spring for which the real murderer, during the show, comes to the fore to claim responsibility for the crime committed and to obtain in exchange that popularity that instead had enjoyed an innocent. the nurse, now fallen into the morbid interest of the public, returns to his usual work, but finds the consolation in the affection of the beloved girl.
