in the mid-1800s, in tsarist russia, an orphan girl discovered her mother's poisoner in her future mother-in-law. the young woman runs away from the village and finds her sister at the blacksmith of a convent, where she was hidden and raised by some faithful friends of her parents. the two sisters, gathered, witness the triumph of justice, advocated by a group of rebels who, with their action, obtain the recognition and grace of the tsar.
