Il cardinale Lambertini (1934)

carlo, the son of cardinal lambertini's waiter, sets his sights on the stepdaughter of the gonfaloniere pietramelara who was promised as wife to the son of count davia. once the relationship is discovered, the girl is sent by her family members to a convent, to be immediately kidnapped by the young lover, who, to avoid wrath and the consequent punishment, takes refuge in the cardinal's house. the latter gets in the way and succeeds, with subterfuges and intrigues, in getting the two young men married.
