great expectations (1998)

finn is eight years old and an orphan. he lives with his sister and uncle in a town overlooking the gulf of florida. the encounter with a dangerous escapee named lustig will determine his whole future. after that, finn is called to the dilapidated mansion of mrs. dinsmoore, an elderly woman, rich and sour. there finn will meet the beautiful estella and fall madly in love with her. but one day the girl leaves the house without giving any explanation. years later a mysterious benefactor offers finn, who has become an adult, the possibility of moving to new york and realizing what had always been his dream: to become a painter. in the big apple she will become the successful artist who has always dreamed of and will meet estella again.
