get carter (2000)

jack carter is a debt collector on behalf of the los angeles underworld, a man who loves beautiful clothes and flaming cars. news arrives from seattle that his brother, a local barman, was found dead in an accident. the man, who leaves his wife and daughter, had a relationship with an enigmatic girl. carter is convinced that death was not accidental, but that it is a murder. his suspicions are confirmed by his sister-in-law and niece, who, though left alone, do not believe the police version. jack conducts the investigation on his own, starting from the bar where his brother worked, run by the mellifluous cliff brumby, and soon finds himself on the trail of cyrus paice, a violent local gangster who made his fortune with internet pornography.
