dancer in the dark (2000)

selma is a single mother of czech origin who emigrated to the usa. her son must be operated on so as not to become blind and she, in order to accumulate money, starts doing double shifts at the factory. although fate rages against her, she manages to react by creating a parallel life in a fairy-tale world.
