Cavalleria rusticana (1939)

returning from military service, the young turiddu discovers that his girlfriend lola is about to marry the carter alfio. he finds comfort in his bitternesses in the affection shown to him by the very young santuzza; this causes the jealousy of lola who does everything to make turiddu return to herself. but also the jealousy of santuzza breaks out, revealing to alfio the affair of the two lovers. alfio therefore challenges turiddu to a duel and kills him.
