agnes browne (1999)

dublin, 1967. on the death of her husband, agnes browne, a mother of seven children, is in serious financial difficulties: to pay for the funeral she is forced to ask for a loan from a loan shark. determined not to give in, she starts selling fruit and vegetables at the market, where she befriends marion monks, who helps her regain a good mood. between hard everyday life, growing children and the dream of attending a tom jones concert, agnes has no time for herself, but the sympathy of pierre, a french baker, brings her back to love.
