porter stoddard, a well-known architect, over fifty and celebrating his silver wedding with his wife ellie in paris, discovers the pleasures and torments of betrayal. a practice that he had always refused but from which he makes groped the day when he realizes that his best friend griffin, happily married with mona, is experiencing an overwhelming adventure of love. but not only: his children, even the maid, all frantically dedicate themselves to betrayal. then the good architect turns into a freak skinny hunter, just as his friend griffin enters a period of reflection and changes his mind about marital relationships. even porter, after so many empty and superficial relationships, he realizes that the only woman with whom he wants to share the future is his wife ellie, but perhaps the rethinking has come too late.
