the ninth gate (1999)

new york: dean corso, mercenary seeker of ancient books, accepts the task of the very rich bibliophile boris balkan to trace the last two copies of the seventeenth-century volume 'the nine gates of the kingdom of the shadows', and compare the illustrations with those of the copy of the same balkan, in order to verify its authenticity. the mission turns out to be full of dangers, curses and deaths. corso, protected by a diabolically angelic creature, will go to the end.
