in the imaginary kingdom of kindaor, sedemondo, thirsty for power, kills his brother, king licinius, and usurps the throne. an old woman in the woods, holding a spindle with wool, similar to one of the fates, prophesies to him grave misfortunes and, to avoid them, the usurper throws little arminio, his nephew, into the valley of the lions, which, instead of tearing it to pieces, they raise it. several years later, arminius, now a great man, meets in the forest tundra, daughter of a defeated king, who is preparing the revenge of his people. he then joins her and falls in love with her. at a tournament held by king sedemondo, arminius wins the victory and with it the hand of elsa, daughter of the tyrant. thus the prophecy to which the usurper had vainly tried to oppose is fulfilled. defeated the king and his allies, arminio becomes king by birth and marries the combative tundra, while elsa sets aside sacrificing his life.
