andrea marcocci, a railroad worker who is experiencing a difficult family situation (his daughter, unhappily married, leaves her husband and then a lover; the son, an idler, after an argument goes home) gives himself to drink because of a train crash that costs him a retreat. obstructed by his colleagues for having worked during a strike, the man finds himself alone and on christmas day, when the family finally gets together, he dies won by an ancient evil.
