graziella (1955)

the poet lamartine meets and loves graziella in the beautiful scenery of the island of procida. when he leaves for paris, with the promise to return, the girl awaits him trustingly, but in vain. the poet will return, but too late: graziella, destroyed by grief, is now dying.
